Optillion appoints a new CFO The high-technology company Optillion, which operates in the optic component and subsystem market, is strengthening its senior management team through the appointment of Lars Carlson as its new CFO. Lars Carlson joins the company from XponCardGroup (formerly Graphium) where he was CFO. Optillion has gathered world-leading expertise for the development and production of fiber-optical transceivers that are expected to significantly increase capacity in future broadband networks. In December 2000, Optillion carried out a new share issue through a private placement, which resulted in the injection of $ 53 million into the company. Optillion is undergoing a phase of significant growth. The company will shortly present prototypes for the first transceiver and a new high- technology production plant is nearing completion in Kungens Kurva, Stockholm. As part of the company's development, Optillion has recruited Lars Carlson as its new CFO. He has a background as CFO for a number of companies that include Nyman & Schultz Shipping, Gunnebo, Moore Pargon, Synectics Medical/Medtronic and now most recently XponCardGroup. "We are in the middle of an intensive stage in the development of the company and this is placing considerable demands on our finance function. We are very pleased to be able to introduce Lars Carlson as Optillion's new CFO. He is known as an extremely competent financial manager with considerable knowledge and experience from fast-growing companies as well as listed companies", says Optillion's CEO and President, Patrik Evaldsson. In connection with the appointment, Optillion's current CFO Royne Markhester will focus on the role as Head of Chip Production. The business concept of Optillion is to develop, manufacture and sell transceivers that will increase the capacity of fibre optic networks. The transmission capacity of Optillion's first transceivers will be 10 Gbit/s Ethernet. Optillion was founded in December 1999 by Christer Svensson, Professor of Electronic Components at the University of Linköping, Lars Thylén, Professor of Photonics at the Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm (KTH) and Jan G. Nilsson, a successful entrepreneur. In a very short time, these three have put together a very strong team of experts within all the four fields that are vital for success. Today, Optillion employs experts in high-speed electronics, high-speed optics, automated manufacturing and encasing. The company currently employs 94 people. The principal owners of Optillion are ITACT, Crescendo Ventures, Cisco Systems and Investor Growth Capital. In order to be able to manufacture large volumes of high-performance transceivers for 10 Gbit/s Ethernet at low cost, Optillion has chosen to build its own factory. Optillion will use the factory to manufacture optochips and to encase and assemble the transceivers. When the factory is finished, it will constitute the hub of Optillion's business operations. The new factory is being built at Kungens Kurva, Stockholm. ------------------------------------------------------------ This information was brought to you by Waymaker http://www.waymaker.net The following files are available for download: http://www.waymaker.net/bitonline/2001/08/29/20010829BIT00310/bit0002.doc http://www.waymaker.net/bitonline/2001/08/29/20010829BIT00310/bit0002.pdf
