Apotti Conducted a Joint Procurement: Optomed to Deliver a System for Oral Healthcare Imaging to Helsinki and the Wellbeing Services County of Vantaa and Kerava

Oy Apotti Ab conducted a joint procurement for its client organizations, the City of Helsinki and the wellbeing services county of Vantaa and Kerava, for an oral healthcare imaging and archiving system. Optomed was selected as the system supplier through a public tender process, and the contracts have now been signed.

Optomed previously announced its success in the tender process in its Q3-2024 interim report.

The project will begin on January 23, with the goal of implementing the system in Helsinki and the wellbeing services county of Vantaa and Kerava by the end of 2025. The system will centralize images from imaging devices, and it will provide radiologists and dentists with viewer software for reading the images. The Sectra PACS system will be integrated with the Epic system, as well as with the national image archiving service. The deployment will include not only the integration and testing of the system but also training for oral healthcare professionals.

“We are delighted to deliver the Sectra PACS imaging and archiving software to Helsinki and the wellbeing services county of Vantaa and Kerava. The system enables an operational model compliant with the Act on the Electronic Processing of Client Data in Social and Health Care, where images will be centralized in one unified PACS system and from there into the national archiving service, whereas images currently are stored in imaging devices and separate software. A unified data repository and modern tools will enable efficient services for the 950,000 residents of Helsinki, Vantaa, and Kerava”, comments Markku Myllylä, Optomed Vice President Software.

“If Helsinki and Wellbeing services county of Vantaa and Kerava had each sought to acquire the system independently, separate tenders, integrations, testing, and training would have been required, resulting in a more complex and expensive overall solution. The joint procurement saves both time and effort,” says Apotti's chief executive officer, Hannu Välimäki.
