Opus Inspection identified Volkswagen emission manipulation already in 2014
Opus Inspection identified high emission levels from the Volkswagen and Audi diesel cars in the U.S. already in 2014 through Opus Inspection’s Remote Sensing technology. The results of the tests have previously been presented in the U.S.
Opus Inspection and a team of scientists in Colorado used the Remote Sensing technology to identify emissions problems with Volkswagens and Audis that have two-liter diesel engines months before the recent scandal became public.
Late in 2014, Opus Inspection found nitrogen oxide emissions from Volkswagen and Audi two-liter diesel vehicles on the road to be emitting significantly above not only the regulations, but also above the emissions of similar vehicles.
On September 30, 2015, the New York Times published an article about how – by expanding the use of Remote Sensing – this technology can be an effective tool to measure emissions where cars pollute – on the road, instead of under laboratory conditions. See the link below for the full article:
