Göteborgs Kex today issued redundancy notices to a total of 70 employees at its factory in Kungälv. The measure is necessary for Göteborgs Kex to strengthen competitiveness and be in a better position to face future challenges on demanding domestic markets in Sweden, Norway and Finland.

"We see a clear need for our production to become more efficient. Competition is fierce out there. One important action is to tailor our organisation to the new market conditions," says Sussan Sandberg, Göteborgs Kex's Director of Production.

The staff of Göteborgs Kex at Kungälv were informed today, 3 April, about the redundancy notices. Negotiations with the affected trade union representatives will begin the same day. Göteborgs Kex will enter into a collaboration with an external party in order to assist the employees who are affected with work guidance, to help them find new jobs.

"We are now primarily focusing on taking care of those affected as well as possible, and keeping them updated with information. There will negotiations concerning these issues with the union representatives at Göteborgs Kex," says Christoffer Jahr, CEO of Göteborgs Kex.

In 2011, Göteborgs Kex posted sales of SEK 970 million. At year-end, it had a total workforce of 600, 410 of them at the Kungälv facility. The company occupies a market-leading position in Sweden and Norway.
