Carlsberg Breweries' Board of Directors has appointed Executive Vice-president Nils Smedegaard Andersen new Chief Executive Officer of Carlsberg Breweries A/S. Since 1 May, 1999, Nils Smedegaard Andersen (43) has been Executive Vice-president in Carlsberg responsible for the beer and soft drink activities in Northern and Western Europe. Nils Smedegaard Andersen has been working with Carlsberg for a total period of 16 years, some of which he has been working abroad as Managing Director of foreign breweries, and thus, his knowledge of the activities of the Carlsberg breweries is extensive. Nils Smedegaard Andersen will also take over responsibility for the corporate technique and marketing functions.


The Executive Board of Carlsberg Breweries will furthermore consist of:

Paul Bergqvist (55) who as Executive Vice-president - in addition to being responsible for Eastern Europe - will take over the Group responsibility regarding Asia as well as the Group's major strategic projects. Furthermore, Paul Bergqvist will be handling the relations to various business organisations including the chairmanship of the Brewers of Europe.

Executive Vice-president and CFO, Bjørn Erik Næss (47) will in addition to his present field of responsibility, finance, treasury, legal department, and IT, take over the responsibility for human resources.

Please also note, as a matter of form, that Executive Vice-president Michael C. Iuul (58), domiciled in Singapore, as Chief Executive Officer of Carlsberg Asia will no longer be registered Executive Vice-president of Carlsberg Breweries.
