Orkla acquires well-known brand in Danmark

Through its wholly-owned subsidiary Orkla Foods Danmark A/S, Orkla has signed and completed an agreement purchasing the Pama brand, which is market leader in Denmark for porridge rice.

Orkla Foods Danmark is currently distributor of Pama products on behalf of PepsiCo.

"Orkla holds a leading position in the Danish grocery sector, in an extensive range of food products categories. With the purchase of Pama, we have strengthened our portfolio with an iconic brand that has a strong position with Danish consumers," says Carsten Hänel, CEO of Orkla Foods Danmark.

Pama is a local brand offering consumers porridge rice in Denmark and Sweden. It has been a part of PepsiCo since the acquisition of The Quaker Oats Company in 2001.

The deal includes the transfer of the trademark. There will be no transfer of employees or production facilities. 

The parties have agreed not to disclose the purchase price.
