Orkla Food Ingredients has acquired Food Distribution Services

Orkla Food Ingredients (OFI) has acquired Food Distribution Services (FDS),
a sales and distribution company of bakery ingredients in Romania.

Under the agreement, OFI takes over 100% of the shares in FDS, with effect from April 2012. The seller is Codrin Daczo, who founded the company in 2008. He will continue in the position as managing director.

In 2011, FDS had a turnover of approx. EUR 5.8 million and 39 employees. The headquarter is located in Bucharest, and the company  also has three sales branches in Bacau, Suceava and Galati. FDS will be part of Orkla Foods Romania.

"This acquisition is in line with the growth strategy of both OFI and Orkla Foods Romania. FDS will give us new opportunities to grow in the segments of bakery and confectionery ingredients in Romania, while FDS will benefit from OFI's expertise in sales, promotion and distribution of bakery ingredients," says Manuela Banu, CEO of Orkla Foods Romania.

The acquisition has been approved by Romanian competition authorities.
