Bæchs Conditori has customers in the in-store bakery, artisan bakery and catering sectors. Its product range consists of dry cakes, cream cakes, cake portions and tarts. The company is located in Hobro on the island of Jutland, Denmark. Its operating revenues in 2004 totalled approximately DKK 60 million and the company has about 80 employees. Denmark is the company's main market, but some products are exported.

The seller is Bæchs Holding A/S, which is owned by four members of the Bæch family. The parties have agreed not to publish the purchase price.

The takeover of Bæchs Conditori will give Orkla Food Ingredients (OFI) a broader product range in the field of frozen ready-baked and bake-off products.

"For Odense Marcipan, which is a leading supplier in the confectionery segment, this acquisition will significantly strengthen our product range, since we will be able to supply both raw materials and finished and bake-off products to the Nordic catering and bakery market," says Peter Eriksen Jensen, Managing Director of Odense Marcipan.

In 2004 OFI, which is one of Orkla Foods' main business areas, reported operating revenues of approximately NOK 2.6 billion and had 950 employees. In addition to Odense Marcipan, the business in Denmark consists of Credin, Credin bageripartner, Bake-Line and Dragsbæk.
