Orkla will become one of the main sponsors for the Nobel Peace Center from 1 May. The sponsorship agreement will run for three years, until spring 2010. Orkla will thus be a sponsor on a par with Telenor, Hydro, DnB NOR and the Leif Höegh Foundation.

"We are delighted. Orkla's support is an indication of the importance of the Nobel Peace Center, both nationally and internationally. This will enable us to develop new projects, and to maintain our status as Norway's most modern museum, in addition to strengthening the Peace Prize as Norway's best known branded product," says Bente Erichsen, Director of the Nobel Peace Center.

"The name Alfred Nobel and the Peace Prize are associated with values the world needs. We are glad to contribute to even more attractive offerings at this center, which Norway has reason to be proud of," says Dag J. Opedal, Group President and CEO of Orkla.

Orkla is one of Norway's largest listed groups, and its core businesses are Branded Consumer Goods, Speciality Materials and Financial Investments. The Group has 30,000 employees and an annual turnover of around NOK 53 billion.

The Nobel Peace Center is Norway's most modern museum. The Center showcases the Peace Prize laureates and their work and Alfred Nobel's life and history, and arranges exhibitions on current issues related to war, peace and conflict resolution. Changing exhibitions, unique digital solutions and seminars and films on topical issues make a visit to the centre a fascinating, multifaceted experience.

The first exhibition project in which Orkla will participate as a main sponsor is the international contemporary art exhibition, "Melting Ice - A Hot Topic", which will have its world premiere at the Nobel Peace Center on World Environment Day, 5 June.
