Senior foreman at Ormiston Wire retires after 47 years of service
Amalio Martinez, the senior manufacturing foreman at Ormiston Wire, has retired after an impressive 47 years of service. However, Amalio will continue to work onsite part-time as a factory foreman, employing the wealth of experience he has clocked up since joining the company in 1966.
“Everyone at Ormiston Wire recognises that Amalio has always been very passionate about his work,” commented Mark Ormiston, Managing Director, Ormiston Wire. “His attention to detail is exceptional and we will continue to benefit from his dedication and expertise.” The policy of offering staff the opportunity to stay on beyond retirement if they wish to is nothing to do with government policy but is a well-established tradition that has been observed by Ormiston Wire for many years.
Ormiston Wire has established this culture of continuity from the beginning; the specialist wire and braid manufacturing company was founded by James Ormiston in 1793 and six generations later the company is still led as an independent and family-run business by his descendant, Mark Ormiston.
