Ortivus and Excense have signed a Letter of Intent regarding co-operation around the concept “Hjärtjournalen” (The Heart Record). This IT-solution supports and secures the quality in the daily clinical work at the cardiology department, and also the information exchange between the various disciplines involved. For the users this means that compliance to established guidelines and treatment protocols can be secured. Through the co-operation Ortivus becomes the commercial channel for the product and the services related to it.

Within modern Healthcare, quality assurance and process support in the daily work and the routines applied becomes more and more important. In many cases the processes, and thereby the care provided, is based on established treatment protocols and guidelines. The latter may be of international, national or local origin, and is regularly updated based on experience, scientific studies and obtained results e.g. national quality registers.

”Hjärtjournalen” (The Heart Record) has been developed at Södra Älvsborgs Sjukhus (Southern Älvsborg Hospital), SÄS, in Borås, Sweden. It was introduced in 2003 and the result was striking. Within one year the hospital’s ranking, based on the quality parameters as defined by Riks-HIA, went from a position in the bottom to a position at the top. A lot of this improvement was ascribed to the introduction of ”Hjärtjournalen”. The introduction meant support in the daily care, and simplified information exchange among most of the disciplines involved in the care process. Furthermore the Cardiology department obtained a more coherent patient information, documentation and compliance with the treatment protocols as well as increased understanding of the treatment applied to a particular individual, e.g. those individuals where the established procedures where not followed.

Ortivus looks at the co-operation as a natural step in its way to become an even more competent provider of products and services within the Cardiology field. The company sees an interesting potential in becoming not only a provider of a top of the line monitoring solution for Cardiology through the CoroNet system, but also being able to contribute to the introduction of modern IT-based solutions that influence, support and secure quality in the daily clinical work. “Hjärtjournalen” represents a type of process and operational support that is expected to be requested in an accelerating way nationally and internationally in the future. With its long history and background in the medtech business Ortivus is also well prepared and suited to handle the upcoming modifications and changes concerning for instance CE-labelling that is expected to be applicable also to IT solutions within the healthcare sector in the very near future.

Excense will through the co-operation get an established provider within the Cardiology area as its market channel, while at the same time getting an opportunity to strengthen its role as a development company and a provider of professional services together with Ortivus.

”For Ortivus this is an important step in the process of strengthening us as a leading provider of qualified clinically oriented products and services to the Cardiology field, and thereby the fulfilment of our ambition to become ”the Cardiologists best friend”, says Ortivus CEO Jan B. Andersson.

"For Excense this co-operation is an exiting possibility that together with a strong and well established supplier within the cardiology field, reach a larger market with our products. We also see significant possibilities for the future in combining each company’s specific competence areas for the benefit of the cardiology in Sweden”, says Nicklas Björklund, Excense.
