Ortivus and Philips Medical Systems have received an order to equip the Piemonte region in Italy with a new system for prehospital care. The system will contain products from the MobiMed range by Ortivus and MRx defibrillators from Philips Medical Systems.

The system will be used throughout the Piemonte region, with the municipality of Turin. It will be installed in 72 ambulances, 5 helicopters, as well as in 32 hospitals and 8 dispatch centers, enabling all users and units to view vital data and communicate efficiently by means of a regional network. The installations will begin in the fall 2006 and parts of the system will be put into operation shortly thereafter. The decision making support system MobiMed facilitates prehospital care and information management. It can contribute to an earlier diagnosis and treatment of acute cardiac infarction patients. The cardiologist at the receiving hospital can view the patient’s vital data and advice the ambulance crew on proper treatment in the ambulance. “Together with our two previous Italian orders, in Massa and Piacenza, this order shows the potential for Ortivus’ products in southern Europe. Early detection of heart related problems is a prioritized issue on the agenda in Italy and I look forward to working together with Philips Medical Systems to meet this customer’s needs. Collaboration with other suppliers and partners is an important part of Ortivus’ strategy”, says Rain Eriksoo, Vice President Sales and Marketing, Ortivus.
