Fujitsu Services has selected Ortivus as Preferred Supplier of the Ambulance Application within NHS (National Health Services) Connecting for Health project for the Southern Cluster, one of five NHS National Programme for IT regions in England. Fujitsu Services will now proceed to settle the remaining commercial and financial terms during the Preferred Vendor Stage with Ortivus. On contractual completion, Ortivus will provide Fujitsu over a nine year period with their software application for pre hospital electronic patient records, MobiMed Electronic Patient Record (ePR) to be implemented in approximately 800 ambulances. The MobiMed ePR solution enables vital data and observations from all ambulatory patients to be documented in an efficient and safe manner at the patient’s side during or prior to ambulance transportion. Relevant patient data will then be transmitted to the Fujitsu regional Data Centre over a wire less net work which would then subsequently be made available to the Emergency Department or specialists at the hospitals. The data is also fully integrated with other systems, which improves pre-hospital processes and patient care. In the future, patient’s data from the central data bases will be available for download direct to the ambulance. MobiMed systems are currently in use in Great Britain, Sweden, Norway, Finland, Germany, Italy and will be installed in Canada during quarter 2 2006. The key aim of the NHS Connecting for Health programme is to integrate healthcare IT systems to give healthcare professionals nationwide access to patient information whenever and wherever it is needed. The new IT infrastructure will connect over 100 000 doctors, 380 000 nurses, 50 000 other healthcare professionals including paramedics and other pre hospital professionals. With an estimated budget of £ 6.2 billion it is the largest healthcare IT project in the world. “A transparent information flow and fully integrated systems are key success factors for healthcare IT. These are key areas of Ortivus’ overall solutions and product strategy. Being part of such an important project as the Connecting for Health will open up opportunities on other markets in Europe where similar healthcare IT programmes are being initiated”, says Mikael Strindlund, President and CEO of Ortivus.
