The first step towards deployment of Ortivus electronic patient records for ambulances in UK is now being taken as Fujitsu places an initial order for the MobiMed software application. This first order has a value of 14 msek.

As communicated on May 3, 2006, Fujitsu Services UK has selected Ortivus as Preferred Supplier of electronic patient records (ePR) for ambulances in the Southern Cluster. Potentially 800 ambulances and 400 First Response Units will be equipped with the proven MobiMed ePR application. The project is part of the comprehensive NHS (National Health Service) Connecting for Health project in the UK.

“We are very proud to be part of this major Healthcare IT project. In addition to the initial project, it is encouraging to note a major potential for add-on sales for ambulance PC hardare as well as for our MobiMed telemedicine solution in the UK market.”, says Mikael Strindlund, CEO at Ortivus.

The MobiMed ePR solution enables vital data and observations from all ambulatory patients to be documented in an efficient and safe manner prior and during the ambulance transportation. The data will be transmitted via Fujitsu regional data centre over wireless network to emergency and specialist departments in hospitals. The patient data allows fully integration with other systems, which improves pre-hospital processes and increased patient care.

The target of the overall NHS Connecting for Health program is integration of healthcare IT systems to give healthcare professionals nationwide access to patient information whenever and wherever needed. The new IT infrastructure will connect over 100 000 doctors, 380 000 nurses, 50 000 other healthcare professionals including paramedics and other pre hospital professionals. This is seen as the largest healthcare IT project in the world.
