To increase the quality of ambulance health care in the region, South Western Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust (SWASFT) operating across Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly, Devon, Dorset and Somerset in the South West of England, United Kingdom, has chosen to purchase MobiMed Smart, the new platform from Ortivus for decision support and monitoring, for approximately 200 ambulances – a total contract value of SEK 30 million (EUR 3.4 million).

The new MobiMed Smart product is built with an open architecture and contains advanced decision support functions such as triage, a dynamic electronic patient record form (ePRF), and plug-in possibilities. SWASFT has taken out an order that chiefly accommodates the need for powerful monitoring of vital signs, pre-hospital EKG treatment, and telemedicine. The solution is being delivered on Ortivus’ new MobiMed Smart modular platform, which provides bigger opportunities for future addition of functionality within the same quality-assured framework. The deal covers installation in approximately 200 ambulances over a little more than two years at a value of approximately SEK 30 million (EUR 3.4 million).

There is an increasing need for, and interest from caregivers in, decision support that can be adjusted to operating conditions, and can be integrated with existing systems and hardware. Apart from this, there is a continued need for pre-hospital monitoring. Against this background, Ortivus over the last few years has invested significant resources in a new, more modern product platform, built with open architecture and with more advanced functions.
The deal with SWASFT acknowledges this need, and the installation in 200 ambulances over the next two years constitutes an important milestone in these efforts on the one hand, and a breakthrough order in the UK for the new MobiMed Smart platform on the other.

The work on developing the new solution has been followed with interest from a number of existing

customers, and there is great expectations for new deals and deliveries during 2012. The total list of potential deals is longer and more qualified than it has been for many years.
