Innovation generates the new services and workplaces that will sustain us in the future. The annual Oslo Innovation Week showcases the Norwegian capital’s innovative potential, and this year the big guns roll into town.

International innovation stars are headed for Oslo, lead by Henry Cheesbrough, the godfather of open innovation. Also making the trip are Ryan Blair, currently on Amazon’s bestseller list, and health care innovator Professor Ken Eason. Also on the program for the week are renewable energy investment forums, and a series of competitions for young entrepreneurs.

Oslo Innovation Week is in its seventh year, and is traditionally held in the third week of October, this year from the 17th to the 21st. 25 events will present Oslo’s creative talent to businesses, students, researchers and entrepreneurs. The City of Oslo, The Norwegian Federation of Industry, Innovation Norway and Akershus Municipality are hosts.

”Oslo Innovation Week provides a venue to display and discuss Oslo’s innovative energy. Innovation is a grass-roots phenomenon, and this year’s program is built on that same model, with the participants contributing the content and context of the week. The hosts provide the framework, such as the opening symposium and gala evening, and the city’s businesses, organizations and universities fill the week with events,” says information consultant Berit Solli of Oslo Teknopol. Teknopol is project manager for the week, on behalf of the four hosts.

Both the opening symposium and the innovation evening will be held in Oslo City Hall. The city’s Concert Hall, Innovation Center, House of Literature and the Telenor Expo stadium will also serve as event venues.

Register for events directly with the various organizations. The full program with contact information can be downloaded at www.oiw.no Registration for the opening symposium and Innovation Evening on Thursday from www.oiw.no .
