Östersund congratulates Luleå

As the best among losers, Östersund would like to congratulate Luleå to Facebook’s new establishment of a mega data center in the city.

- We are very proud of our work, but since we fell on the finishing line it is obvious that Luleå did their job even better, concludes Magnus Lindgren.

The cities of Luleå and Östersund have been working side by side for a long time. The company has been pursuing an aggressive and detailed site due diligence program. Two weeks ago Facebook announced that they had chosen Luleå as their first choice.

- We have since spring 2010 worked really hard together with Facebook to create prerequisites for an establishment of a large data center, which has led to us being ready for start of construction including all the required permits, says trade and industry manager in Östersund, Magnus Lindgren.

The city of Östersund will now continue the work by refining and marketing their offer to other operators in the data center business.
