2020 makes 40! Registration has started.

February. The month of hope. The registration for the 40th edition of the Ötztaler Cycle Marathon has started on the 1st of this month and runs until the 29th (one day longer due to the leap year). If you haven't registered yet, you should better hurry. Afterwards, unfortunately, the window will be closed. No more chance to participate in the iconic race. Now everyone is excited about the drawing. Tension increases!

30 August 2020. 4.00 pm. The first can already hold it in their hands. The Ötztaler Cycle Marathon anniversary finisher jersey by Sportful. The unrivaled reward for 238 km and 5500 altitude meters. After that, one after the next arrives in Sölden - more and more happy and exhausted finishers pick up this coveted trophy on the second floor of Freizeit Arena. Most of them will put it on right away and proudly present it in the streets of Sölden. There are an infinite number of stories that some (more than a few) also wear it during sleep on Monday night while their sore muscles can relax.

Stories are also written in the book "A New Dream Begins" (in German). Annual reports from 2004 up to and including 2019, overview of the finisher jerseys, poster motifs, drinking bottles and exciting stories from the race director and broom car. What do course record holders have to say, which kind of experiences did the last finishers make? Well-known and probably completely unknown participants describe their impressions, experts give useful tips and even training plans can be found in the new book. The very best pictures of our photographers, who have already taken myriad photos at the Ötztaler, add to an outstanding new book with several photo series. Additionally, there are loads of statistics and intermediate results for all lovers of number games. However, the voice of the participants and enthusiasts is also required here. On the official homepage of the Ötztaler Cycle Marathon you can still vote online for your favorite cover picture of the book until 15 March.

Ready, steady, drawing.

No matter if you take part for the first time or as a returner. If you want to be part of the 40th edition of the Ötztaler Cycle Marathon, you still have the chance to register for one of the 4000 starting places until 29 February. The registration window officially closes on 01 March. By mid-March, the coveted starting places will be drawn by lot among all those who have registered on time. Without ifs and whines. The organization keeps the fingers crossed for all dreamers.

For a handful of lycra.

Just like the 40th edition of the Ötztaler Cycle Marathon, this year's finisher jersey is dedicated to the symbolic anniversary animal: The golden eagle. The king of the air will decorate the back of the precious material in a both stylish and unobtrusive manner. The jersey, which is designed in shades of blue and a hint of gold, will surely be much talked of again this year. Some will love it, others will wear it proudly. And the shirt's front? It honors the anniversary itself. Of course, one can proudly present 40 editions. More on that topic in March.
