Red Bull Illume attracts the best adventure & action sports photographers to Sölden
From 28 to 30 November 2023, Sölden will be the venue for the prestigious Winner Award Ceremony of the world's greatest contest for adventure and action sports imagery. Until the end of July, creative people around the globe can take part in the Red Bull Illume Image Quest 2023 in ten different categories. Five selected participants can make their vision of a photo shoot a reality in Sölden this summer.
Photographer Will Saunders won the sixth edition of the Red Bull Illume Image Quest with an image of a climber falling down the rope in an exceptionally powerful pose in Indian Creek, Utah. Photographers around the world are invited to submit their works to the 2023 edition until 31 July. This is the world's greatest contest for adventure and action sports imagery. Submissions can be made in 10 different categories: ranging from "Emerging" for young talents up to the age of 25 to "Playground", which highlights the location of the images, to video clips for Instagram. An international top-class jury will decide on the winners who will be chosen at a big ceremony in Sölden on 30 November.
Meeting place for creatives
"We are honored to hold the Winner Award Ceremony for this year's Red Bull Illume contest in Sölden. As a tourism destination, we know what attraction visual messages can generate. That's why I am very pleased to welcome so many creative minds to Sölden," explains Oliver Schwarz, Managing Director of Ötztal Tourismus. From 28 to 30 November 2023, a bundle of workshops, talks and networking opportunities are on the agenda in Sölden - in addition to the announcement of the overall winners. Sölden is also the new partner for the Masterpiece by Sölden category.
Sölden makes (photo) dreams come true
Photographers with ideas for innovative motifs can already win in advance. They are invited to submit their concepts to photo@redbullillume.com until 25 June. The five photographers with the best ideas can turn their vision into reality in Sölden between 01 and 20 July 2023. In addition to free hotel accommodation and gondola tickets, these five participants and their athletes will receive personal support from a local guide. It leaves enough time to submit the photos taken in Sölden to the Red Bull Illume Image Quest 2023 (registration deadline: 31 July).
XXL gallery of the top 50
Even after the Winner Award Ceremony at the end of November, Red Bull Illume will remain present in Sölden. The 50 final images can be admired in an outdoor exhibition at the Heartbeat of the Alps throughout the 2023/24 winter season. The motifs will be presented in a visually appealing way in 2x2 meter outdoor lightboxes.
