In its 17th edition, the charitable hotel industry meeting once again sent a strong signal of solidarity and compassion. True to the motto “Tirol’s gastronomy supports Tiroleans,” restaurant owners and gastronomy partners from all over Tirol gathered in uppermost Ötztal. This year, the participants are pleased about net proceeds of EUR 28,660. The money will be distributed among people throughout Tirol in the form of unbureaucratic direct aid.

“A simple idea with a lot of power.” This is how Benjamin Kneisl, chairman of Ötztal Tourismus, outlines the concept of the charitable hotel industry meeting which has existed since 2005. For this year's edition, almost 130 restaurant and gastronomy partners came to Gurgl for a personal winter start and exchange of ideas. On the occasion of the welcome at Top Mountain Crosspoint, Kneisl once again remembered the person who shaped the event: “The Tirolean Gastro Day bears a special signature. Our Yvonne Auer, who sadly passed away all too early this year, managed to bring people together with a lot of heart and passion and thus do good for others." Those responsible around organizer Sabrina Sagernik and a total of 28 participating gastronomy partners who sell their goods and products continue to pursue this sustainable mission by also providing services free of charge. This year, net proceeds of 28,660 euros were achieved.

Perfect conditions
Countless participants took the opportunity to try the excellent conditions on the slopes of Gurgl for themselves. Among them was former Tirolean Governor Günther Platter, Chairman of Netzwerk “Tirol hilft”. He once again emphasized the great importance of the Tirolean Gastro Day: "Initiatives like the Tirolean Gastro Day are simply fabulous. Everything is done here to help other people who have to struggle during everyday life." After the start at Top Mountain Crosspoint, the day was spent at various locations in the ski area such as Top Mountain Star, Hohe Mut Alm and finally Nederhütte. In addition to culinary treats, visitors enjoyed plenty of variety with live music and entertainment.

Strong team spirit
Such a high donation amount is only possible thanks to broad commitment. In addition to the proceeds from the participation fees or the sale of raffle tickets, there are also several other forms of support. For example, a check of 2,000 euros from Tirol’s Raiffeisen banks. The “Panel for change. Enjoyment, skiing and sustainability” event also made a lasting contribution as part of the Alpine Ski World Cup premiere in Gurgl. Raphael Kuen, Ötztal Habitat Manager, could hand over a check for 6,300 Euros to organizer Sabrina Sagernik.
