Vent Unplugged: recharge your batteries in the mountaineering village

Report this content

Three event periods, three topics, one aim: get out of everyday routine and straight into nature. From July to September, the mountaineering village of Vent invites you to join inspiring courses, tours and lectures. The “Vent Unplugged” event series offers time out in alpine surroundings - at over 1900 meters above sea level.

With a focus on culinary art, alpinism or even daydreams, Ötztal’s holiday village of Vent encourages you to discover nature and yourself. Guided hikes, yoga or cooking classes are scheduled on three days each in July, August and September. Participation is mostly free of charge.

One motto per month
The event weeks in July start with the Culinary Days (10 – 12 Jul). During a cooking lesson, the participants create regional dishes together with Pirmin Lechner (chef de cuisine at Hotel Macun). The next day, there is a fascinating historical tour of Vent, followed by a morning yoga session on Wednesday, 12 July. At noon there will be culinary specialties on a gourmet trail from Vent to Rofen. This culinary journey is a green event at the same time. Guests will experience the program in a sustainable way - with a minimal ecological footprint. The gourmet trail is supported by Raiffeisenbank Sölden.

At the beginning of August, the Alpine / Glacier Days (07 – 09 Aug) focus on the attraction of high altitude. The event series starts with a yoga morning routine. Afterwards, Pirmin Lechner invites you to join a cooking course on the topic of "consciously cooked". On Tuesday, participants will hike from Vent to Hörnle (2406 m) and back to Vent across the historic Kaser (2120 m). On Wednesday, 09 August, you will explore Rofenkar glacier at over 3000 meters together with mountain guides - including an exciting abseiling session into a glacier crevasse.

The theme days in September – Day dreams / Dream nights (05 – 07 Sep) – start with a guided tour to Hörnle (2406 m). On the scenically impressive hike, the hiking guide will tell you about the legend of the cursed alpine pasture or the discovery of Ötzi, the Iceman. In the evening, Vent will turn off the lights: at local inns guests can enjoy dinner by candlelight. In a lecture, a star guide conveys the basics needed to orient oneself in the night sky. The next day starts with a yoga session, followed by a cooking class. A sunrise tour to Wilder Mann (3019 m), followed by a mountain breakfast concludes the event series on 07 September 2023.

Creating awareness
Vent Unplugged focuses on nature and its precious resources. "Therefore, it’s only logical that we run the gourmet trail as a green event," emphasizes Gerhard Moser of Ötztal Tourismus. Sustainability and environmental protection are central points in the organization and implementation of the entire event program. Participants use almost exclusively regional products for the cooking courses, and travel to the events by public transport. A conscious effort is made to avoid waste and above all plastic.

Time out in Vent
Vent owes its reputation to its deep historical connection to alpinism. The mountaineering village is known for countless hiking routes and idyllic outdoor activities. In a place where time seems to stand still, guests and locals alike enjoy the tranquility and beauty of nature. "The Vent Unplugged event series is a reminder of what Vent stands for: unique hiking trails, educational theme trails, fabulous views and time out in scenic alpine surroundings," Moser states.
