EUROPEAN COMMISSION'S STATEMENT OF OBJECTIONS REGARDING MANUFACTURERS OF COPPER SANITARY TUBES Outokumpu Oyj has today received a Statement of Objections from the European Commission concerning alleged participation by Outokumpus copper tube business in a cartel with respect sanitary tubes in the European Union. Outokumpu received a Statement of Objections relating to air-conditioning and refrigeration (ACR) tubes in July this year. Both Statements of Objections are related to an investigation that was initiated by the Commission in March 2001 and Outokumpu has cooperated with the European Commission in connection with the investigation. The company is now analyzing and examining the Statements of Objections and shall submit its written reply in due course. The combined net sales of copper ACR and sanitary tubes manufactured by Outokumpu in Europe account for some 4% of the Outokumpu Groups total net sales.
