Beginning of January 2014 Outokumpu introduced the Daily Alloy Surcharge pricing model. Based on continuous dialogue with customers Outokumpu is now further extending the options available within the model and as of June 2014 is introducing a third option, Average Flex, to determine the Daily Alloy Surcharge.

In addition to the previously available options to fix the alloy surcharge on the date of the order (Option I: Effective) or selecting any day between order and delivery (Option II: Selective), the third option (Average Flex) reduces customer’s alloy risk by calculating the Daily Alloy Surcharge as an average based on a self-defined period between order and delivery date.

Says Olli-Matti Saksi, head of sales EMEA (Europe, Middle East and Africa): “We have received positive feedback from several customers. The Daily Alloy Surcharge pricing model offers unique decision freedom to customers to reduce metal risks and a mechanism to benefit from volatile metal markets to maximize metal profits”.

The new Option III (Average Flex) will be available for all new orders from June 2014 onwards for European mill distributor customers of flat products. More information on the Daily Alloy Surcharge pricing model can be found on www.outokumpu.com.
