OUTOKUMPU CLARIFIES INFORMATION IN TODAY'S MEDIA RELATING TO
STAINLESS STEEL DELIVERIES IN 2004

Referring to Reuters' news today, May 19, 2004, Outokumpu wishes
to clarify some information presented in the article. The
stainless steel production figure presented in the article, 2.05
million tonnes, for 2004 actually refers to Outokumpu's total
stainless steel deliveries. The figure, 2.05 million tonnes of
steel deliveries, is in line with Outokumpu's currents plans and
market outlook, as well as with earlier published information
relating to the ramp-up of new capacity at Tornio.

As for 2005, Outokumpu reiterates its target of having the Group's
full expanded stainless steel capacity (2.75 million tonnes of
slabs and 1.9 million tonnes on cold rolling mill production) on
an annualized basis available in early 2005.
