Outokumpu Technology modernizes sulphuric acid plant in Turkey

Outokumpu Technology has received an order from Bandirma Gübre Fabrikalari A.S. (Bagfas), a major producer of NPK fertilizers in Turkey, to revamp the existing sulphuric acid plant in Bandirma. The value of the contract is approx. EUR 23 million.

Outokumpu Technology's scope covers the supply of engineering services, equipment, installation and supervision of commissioning. The modernization will be completed by September 2004. After the completion of the overhaul the plant will produce 1 650 tonnes of sulphuric acid per day.

Outokumpu Technology acquired Lurgi Metallurgie sulphuric acid plant technology in 2001. Currently over 500 sulphuric acid plants worldwide are using Lurgi Metallurgie technology in metallurgical, chemical and fertilizer industries. Each plant is tailor-made to customer needs with the aim to add value to the customer's business.
