OUTOKUMPU TO ADOPT INTERNATIONAL FINANCIAL REPORTING STANDARDS
(IFRS)

In its meeting today, the Board of Directors of Outokumpu Oyj has
discussed the Group’s transition to IFRS reporting. Outokumpu has
decided to apply IFRS standards in its financial reporting for the
first time in the third quarter interim report, which is to be
published on October 26, 2004.

On October 11, 2004 Outokumpu will publish IFRS comparison figures
from the financial year 2003 (first to fourth quarter) and from
2004 (first to second quarter). The date of transition to IFRS is
January 1, 2003.
