Mika Okkola New Head of AppCampus
Former Chairman of the AppCampus Board, Mika Okkola has been nominated as Head of AppCampus starting 3rd of February 2014. In his new role Mika is responsible for the global AppCampus mobile application accelerator program run by Aalto University in Espoo, Finland. He will take up the role following Pekka Sivonen’s move to focus on developing other Aalto University StartUp programs.
The AppCampus program, kicked off in May 2012, has a growing reputation as a hotbed of new startup companies. AppCampus has attracted thousands of application proposals from entrepreneurs from all over the world, and since its first year, AppCampus has invested more than 6 million euro in its applicants. “As I have been part of the AppCampus since its foundation, I am excited about the opportunity to get really hands-on with a program that I truly love“, says Mika Okkola.
Mika Okkola has over two decades of experience in ICT. During his career he has held positions in app development, sales, marketing, professional services, consultancy and IT security. Most recently he worked as the Director for Technical Audiences at Microsoft Finland. Prior to Microsoft he has held several executive positions in corporations like at Quartal, Defcom, and WM-data.
