Robyn’s Dancing on My Own takes the number one spot when P3 and the Swedish music industry rank their favorite songs
P3 – the Swedish Radio music channel – has ranked the world’s 300 best songs from a Swedish perspective. The list, which is called P300, has been created with the help of more than 150 people from the Swedish music industry. The songs that made the list have been revealed over the past few weeks live on air, culminating in the top ten songs made public on the P3 morning show today. Robyn’s iconic electropop tune from 2010, Dancing on My Own, took the number one spot. Two other Swedish acts also made the top ten: ABBA and The Knife.

” Pop music as we know it wouldn’t sound the way it does today without Robyn and Dancing on My Own. She introduced a new dimension into the world of music with her own blend of pop, dance music and vulnerability”, says Tina Mehrafzoon, music journalist and presenter on P3.

The P300 list has been created with the help of more than 150 people. P3 convened a jury of music producers, artists, agents, music journalists as well as P3's presenters and a few specially invited listeners and they all ranked their favorite songs (a minimum of 15 songs and a maximum of 30).
The only restrictions were that the songs had to be within the “popular music field” (i.e. no classical music) and had to have been released during the last 60 years (1964 or later, the date had been chosen because it was the year that P3 began its broadcasts). Also, artists and producers were not allowed to nominate songs of their own or tracks they had collaborated on.
Nearly 2600 songs received votes and P3 then tabulated the results. It all boiled down to a list consisting of 300 songs. P300 has been a hot topic on air as well as on P3’s social media for the past couple of weeks. Check out the complete P300 list: sverigesradio.se/p300
