Let them choose clothes

A mother of two firmly believes children should have their say in what they wear

Based near Belvedere on the banks of the Thames, Bess Obarotimi's business decision enables her to spend more time at home with her brood. In a time when parenting has been scrutinised in mainstream media and rising childcare costs are a concern, many parents are choosing careers based in their homes.

Disillusioned by disproportionate costs and ethical expenditure, website designer and mother of two Bess conceived of a solution to the contradictory problem of clothing her children. Putting her skills to use, she created a website selling catwalk inspired kids outfits, crafted in ethical circumstances at reasonable costs.

VeeAndJade.com communicates children’s ownership of their clothing requirements; something Bess firmly believes in. She said, "It's the late leader of a generation, Nelson Mandela who said we can build a better future for children by empowering them through allowing them to speak up for themselves.  I wanted everything we select for Vee And Jade to come from designs popular with children themselves." The collections completely cover catwalk couture; comprising of everything for boys and girls. Stocking staples such as jeans and tops, Vee And Jade also host hip harem pants and funky waistcoats to reflect the latest children's styles.

During a time when teaching children values at home is more important than ever, handing decision making over to kids encourages them to trust their own instincts and be clear about what they are comfortable with. "Allowing a little control over what they wear helps to make the chore of getting dressed go faster and helps children's choices to be valued." said Bess, meaning that it's also a time saver!

Providing sensibly priced designer clothes chosen by children for children, Vee and Jade offer a 10% discount to all new customers, with free delivery on orders over £50 and free returns. Mrs. Obarotimi said, "I wanted to choose a range that reflects excellent quality without extortionate costs, to make the clothing something anyone can purchase." With prices starting at as little as £1.30 for a bow tie or £6 for a pair of leggings, the collections are affordable and stylish. Normal delivery rates are staggered, depending on urgency, meaning that delivery can cost just £3.95.

Tailored from high quality materials in eye catching and bold designs, children wearing items stocked at Vee And Jade wear durable clothing that still looks good even after the season has passed. Stockists of designers such as Boboli and Huanzhou who are at the forefront of contemporary kidswear, the emphasis at Vee And Jade is on fun fashions. That's got to be something kids love.
