Scorching summer inspires stylish showers at Glastonbury

Famed for its followers' fearlessness in the face of less clement weather, this year the festival favourite may be able to boast a heat wave for the first time in about 20 years.

Predictions about this summer's heat wave being the hottest on record look to be coming to fruition. As festival goers hope to soak up the sun, one expert explains that record numbers are packing up their possessions and opting for a luxury stay as glamping becomes the hottest travel trend of the decade. Whether it's to shelter from the mud or the heat; revellers revere boutique campers as the roof over their weary festival heads.

Founder of Quirky Campers, David Ffrench said glamping - a portmanteau for glamorous camping - has contributed to a surge in bookings for boutique boudoirs this year. Based in Bristol, David and his wife Lindsay created the company to close the gap between the desire for a campervan and the costs of continuous running. "After we renovated our van, "Bella", we worked out that we'd need to use it for at least four weeks a year to justify its running costs. So we decided to hire it out when it's not in use", said David. As demand grew, they started leasing vans for other owners.

The regular fleet of fully equipped, stunning campervans was booked out for Glastonbury week within days of ticket sales in September. However, David and Lindsay have seen such a rise in enquiries that they've added some special campervans to cover the festival period. "We know from experience how much of a welcome shelter our campervan has been whatever the weather at festivals", said Lindsay. "It provides a home from home and a place to escape the infamous Glasto loos!"

Having given so much care and attention to renovating "Bella", the couple are particular in their expectations of the campervans they hire out. With striking wooden interiors, innovative storage space and beautiful bathrooms, the vans are each unique and comfortable. Well insulated and fully equipped with a solid oak kitchenette "Arthur" is still available  to provide a sturdy slice of capacious comfort for those venturing to Glasto, whilst "Talullah" boasts easy manoeuvrability and cosy quarters for couples. Those renting the mighty "Hector" can benefit from his luxury wet room for a piece of extravagance in the field of dreams.

Glamping is a hot topic, and with this year's heat set to turn up, scores of music lovers are splashing out this summer on this type of specialist excursion, rather than more traditional package breaks or flight plus hotel options.
