On 21 and 22 September 2010 28 shop stewards who represent employees in the Rezidor Hotel Chain in Iceland, Norway, Finland, Sweden, Estonia, Latvia, Austria and Denmark assembled at PAM’s conference center in Petäys Resort, Finland.

The Conference's overall theme was to develop new common strategies for cooperation between trade union representatives and representatives of the Rezidor EWC in order to improve social dialogue between corporate management and employee representatives in the Rezidor EWC.

There was a desire to have agreements with management to ensure that employee representatives can be elected to the EWC from all the countries within the group, whether they are hotels operated by the Company or through Management contracts and Franchising Agreements.

The goal is to have agreements with group management for greater social accountability. Ensuring better job security for workers can be done through agreements which limit the extent of outsourcing and use of temporary workers, promoting greater availability of full-time jobs and ensuring continuing employment e.g. by offering employees continuing education in low season.

We are confident that through this strategic partnership with management we will develop a corporate culture that can retain employees and attract new workers.
