An important milestone for Panattoni’s logistics facility in Enköping, Sweden

In November 2022, Panattoni broke ground for a 68,000-square-meter warehouse space in an exceptional logistics location in Enköping, Sweden. Since then, the general contractor YLAB has maintained an average of 55 active construction workers from different trades on site. Last week a major milestone was celebrated: the facility's gigantic roof structure is up, covering an area equivalent to the size of 17 football fields combined.

Panattoni is Europe's leading developer of logistics and industrial properties. Over the past year, the company has established itself as a major player in the Nordic region with several ongoing projects in Sweden and Denmark. Just ten months after entering the Swedish market the groundbreaking ceremony was held for the modern warehouse in Enköping.

Last week the completion of the roof was celebrated with the customary topping-out ceremony. Employees from YLAB and Panattoni celebrated with a joint lunch, and the traditional wreath was raised on the roof in collaboration with Majblomman, a non-profit organization aiming to minimize child poverty in Sweden. Anna Holmström, Head of Business Development at Enköping Municipality, who attended the ceremony said:

– We are very pleased that Panattoni decided to build this facility in Enköping. It acknowledges our strong position in the heart of the Stockholm-Mälaren Region, with proximity to a strong labour market and excellent transport links and logistics.

In all projects undertaken by Panattoni, the aim is to receive high levels of environmental certification, and Panattoni Park Enköping is no exception. The project is expected to achieve BREEAM Excellent as a minimum. A comprehensive analysis of the facility’s carbon footprint, in accordance with A1-A3 carbon baselines for new buildings, shows that its life carbon impact will be 52 percent lower per square meter compared to the Sweden Green Building Council’s benchmark for newly built logistics buildings.

The general contractor YLAB estimates that the property will be ready for occupation as early as autumn, and several interested parties are in dialogue with Panattoni. The flexible layout can accommodate a single tenant or up to six different tenants with businesses contributing to local employment opportunities in Enköping.

– We take pride in quickly translating our words into action. After sixteen months in Sweden, we have already topped out on our first property, and the rest of the project work will proceed at the same pace. We have several other projects in progress within the golden triangle of Stockholm, Gothenburg, and Skåne, and the smooth progress of Panattoni Park Enköping clearly shows our ability to rapidly provide the market with sustainable warehouse space, says Fredrik Jagersjö Rosell, Managing Director at Panattoni's Swedish branch.
