Managing Director Elina Ussa will take up a new position
Elina Ussa, who has headed up the Federation of the Brewing and Soft Drinks Industry since 2010, will step down to take up a new position at the beginning of May.
The Federation of the Brewing and Soft Drinks Industry will now start the recruitment process for a new managing director. The brewing industry will face plenty of challenges to solve in the future, too.
“Under Ussa, the Federation of the Brewing and Soft Drinks Industry has become a proactive player. The industry has invested in responsibility efforts, such as by creating the most popular responsibility website in Finland, kohtuullisesti.fi. In addition, we started the preliminary inspection of alcohol advertising. Work on the preparation of the new Alcohol Act took years. The final version accounts for the needs and views of the industry,” says Lasse Aho, the Chairman of the Federation of the Brewing and Soft Drinks Industry and the Managing Director of the brewing company Olvi.
The Federation of the Brewing and Soft Drinks Industry is one of the oldest industry organisations in Finland. It was established in 1902 as Suomen Panimoteollisuus Yhdistys (Association of the Finnish Brewing Industry) to promote the interests of producers of beer, cider, long drinks, soft drinks and mineral waters.
The brewing industry directly employs about 1,700 people and in the entire value chain, from field to glass, it provides employment for around 26,000 people. Finnish beer has an important role in creating jobs in the entire value chain from primary production to stores and restaurants. The brewing and soft drinks industry generates more than EUR 2 billion in revenues for the State each year.
