Erie, PA—Eriez Minerals Flotation Group is a new operating entity combining the minerals processing expertise of Eriez and its subsidiary, Canadian Process Technologies (CPT). The group was created to distinguish the company’s minerals processing technologies, particularly flotation equipment and systems, from its magnetic and vibratory product lines, to facilitate global customer communications, and to increase the company’s presence in the mining and minerals processing industries.

Eriez acquired CPT in 2006 to complement and enhance its engineering capabilities in the design and fabrication of column flotation systems. Based in Vancouver, British Columbia and Belo Horizonte, Brazil, CPT specializes in the design and manufacture of flotation columns and sparging systems.

The CPT name will be retained as a brand identity for proprietary flotation equipment developed by the company, including CoalPro™ coal flotation cells, BitPro bitumen flotation cells, MPP mini pilot plant system, and SlamJet® and CavTube spargers.

CPT CoalPro™ flotation columns achieve high efficiencies for fine coal recovery and are used in many major coal preparation plants worldwide. CPT CoalPro cells feature CPT SlamJet® spargers. CPT BitPro flotation cells are a proven means for recovering bitumen in oil sands applications.

In addition to these CPT-brand products, Eriez Minerals Flotation Group offers the StackCell® flotation system, a new, innovative technology that provides the same performance as column cells in a more compact and energy-efficient design. Introduced in 2009, Eriez StackCell features a patented aeration system that substantially improves bubble/particle contacting, reduces mixing and shortens retention time with minimal energy consumption. Eriez StackCell requires approximately half the space of equivalent column cells with corresponding reductions in weight, floor space and energy consumption. Units can be shipped fully assembled and lifted into place without the need for field fabrication.

Eriez also manufactures HydroFloat™ and CrossFlow™ coarse particle separators for minerals and coal operations. These teeter bed separators provide enhanced bubble/particle contacting, improved control of particle residence time, lower cell turbulence and reduced air consumption.

Eriez Minerals Flotation Group is comprised of a skilled process engineering team with substantial experience in metallurgical testing and process design. Services range from evaluative studies through equipment design, fabrication and commissioning. Customer references include a wide range of custom-designed flotation systems for the recovery of coal, base and precious metals and industrial minerals. The financial strength of Eriez ensures ongoing refinements in research initiatives and continuous improvement in manufacturing expertise and technology acquisition. The company’s fiscal health and technical expertise are significant factors ensuring its position as a new world leader in advanced flotation technology.
