As the final deadlines for shipping parcels to popular destinations near, the international courier ParcelHero reveals where we have sent the most presents.
Some good news from international couriers ParcelHero: your gifts should still be home for Christmas if you are sending them to the USA, Canada and European destinations, right up until December 23rd. While it’s too late to get your gifts to Australia, India and South Africa for Christmas Day; last-minute senders still have time to get their items picked up and sent to North America, Europe, and, of course, UK destinations. ParcelHero reveals its most popular Christmas destination is Australia, with the USA second, Canada third and Germany (the most popular destination for presents within Europe) coming in fourth.
We Brits were most generous with gifts to Hong Kong; they averaged £156, with the most popular present sent there being Monopoly; while the parcels we sent to Australia averaged £145. Our friends and relatives in the USA only got presents worth £88, with jumpers their most common gift; and the poor Belgians got the lowest value gifts proportionately, at around £50.
ParcelHero’s Head of Public Relations, David Jinks MILT, says: ‘If you are sending gifts beyond the EU, there’s still time to ship them until the 23rd to the USA and Canada, but make sure you declare the contents accurately; so your packages won’t spend Christmas Day in the Customs Warehouse. Within the EU and the UK the 23rd is also the final safe deadline for parcels to reach their destination in time for the big day; but don’t forget that some European countries, such as Germany, give their gifts on Christmas Eve – so senders need to move fast!’
