Free Events Aug. 27-Aug. 30, 2011 Include Pancake Breakfast with ‘Birdman’
LONE TREE, COLO, Aug. 26, 2011-- Park Meadows opened the doors to a new regional shopping experience on August 30, 1996-- launching a new approach to retail and a series of Colorado ‘firsts’ in a shopping center setting. Immediately set apart by original art, western décor and a lodge-like environment (as well as 180 of the finest retailers) Park Meadows established its position as Colorado’s Only Retail Resort. The month-long 15th anniversary celebration at Park Meadows will culminate in a series of community events between Aug. 27-30, 2011 -- including a free community pancake breakfast August 30, 2011 with Denver Nuggets ‘Birdman’
“When Park Meadows broke ground for the project on April 17, 1995, the stage was set for a new retail experience,” said Pam Schenck Kelly, Senior General Manager, Park Meadows, Colorado’s Only Retail Resort. “Over the years, we have enhanced the property with new features and new retailers to maintain positioning as a regional destination.”
On opening day in 1996, Park Meadows was greeted by thousands of guests who spent the night in their cars and campers in order to be among the first to enter Colorado’s Only Retail Resort. As Park Meadows grew to offer additional services, retail and dining, the shopping center continued to evolve and is now recognized internationally as one of the nation’s best shopping centers.
“Park Meadows is an economic engine that not only has attracted many other high-end retailers to the area, but non-retail employers as well,” said James Gunning, Mayor of The City of Lone Tree. “The well-educated consumers Park Meadows attracts are the same well-educated employees major corporations want to hire.”
Park Meadows brought numerous ‘firsts’ to Colorado including the first Nordstrom, the first Dillard’s (also Colorado’s largest Dillard’s), the first American Girl (and still the only Colorado location) as well as the first Robert Redford ‘Sundance’ fashion boutique (and still the only Colorado location).
15 Year Park Meadows Celebration Events
To commemorate 15 years asColorado’s Only Retail Resort, Park Meadows invites guests to a series of free events and activities. Highlights include:
- Free HawkQuest Experience- On Sat., Aug. 27, 2011 guests are invited to meet Kin Quitugua, a master falconer and long time environmental educator (from 4-6 p.m.). Guests will see Kin interact with a live eagle and a hawk in The Vistas during an ongoing discussion about birds of prey.
- Free Birthday Cupcakes & Children’s Face Painting Celebration- On Sun., Aug. 28, 2011 families are invited to celebrate Park Meadows’ 15th anniversary with free cupcakes and face painting outdoors in The Vistas at Park Meadows (from 1-3 p.m.).
- Free Anniversary Pancake Breakfast- On Tues., Aug. 30, 2011 the community is invited to stop by the free pancake breakfast in the Park Meadows Dining Hall with celebrity flippers Denver Nuggets “Birdman” and Lone Tree Mayor Jim Gunning (guests are invited to stop by between 8-9:30 a.m.).
