Crankcase ventilation separator addresses global emissions legislation

Parker Racor Filter Division Europe, the global leader in engine filtration and fuel delivery, has recently introduced the Parker Racor Super Impact or Crankcase Ventilation Oil separator (CCV).  As engine manufacturers are faced with demanding global emissions legislation, they are seeking solutions that will help them reduce NOx, hydrocarbon and particulate.  The Super Impactor has been specifically designed to meet these challenges head on and sets the standard for high performance fit for life closed crankcase ventilation solutions.

The need to offer a more efficient solution for filtration of crankcase blow by gas was the driving force behind research and development efforts. The Parker Racor Research and Development team set out to design a high performance innovative system, which would be a viable alternative to traditional oil driven centrifuge solutions. The Super Impactor CCV was the result of these engineering efforts. Super Impactor regulates the crankcase pressure, separates the liquid/aerosol oil and returns it to the sump thus delivering open and closed crankcase solutions at >99% efficiency.  This solution provides a positive impact on the environment by eliminating oil mist from crankcase emissions.

The Super Impactor technology is available for medium, heavy, and industrial sized engine projects controlling blow-by gas up to 1000 litres per minute whilst maintaining crankcase pressure limits and efficiencies throughout the engine life. The cleaned gas can be closed to the intake system and high oil separation efficiency maintains good turbo and intercooler performance. . Alternatively the cleaned gas can be returned to atmosphere.

By enforcing emissions targets, legislators have committed engine and vehicle manufacturers to find the technological advancements necessary to control blow-by venting and minimize impact on human and environmental health. Using its experience and strength within this area, Parker Racor’s engineers are ideally placed to discuss individual requirements.  For further information please visit: www.parker.com/rfde and click on the solutions tab.
