St. Austell, Cornwall, UK – One of Cornwall’s leading children’s play facilities that was closed by last year’s flooding, has announced that it plans to create a major new family attraction at its St. Austell site.

The play facility known as Kidzworld and the adjoining Charlie’s Adventureland, were both submerged by the floodwater that swept through the area during November 2010. With the play equipment and infrastructure damaged beyond repair, the site’s owners, Wellington Market Company Plc., has decided to open a brand new, combined attraction to cater for families. Malcolm Ball, chief executive of Wellington Market Company, commented: ”The flooding devastated our site and although we were able to get The Kids’ Academy and Cornish Market World back open within ten days, the children’s play facilities were a completely different story.” “We’ve employed Vision XS, one of the world’s leading experts in visitor attractions, and they’ve come up with a fantastic plan for the site that will introduce a whole new experience for our visitors – significantly bigger than anything we’ve offered before. “We are effectively starting with a clean sheet and have developed a new, activity-based attraction that the whole family can experience together – whatever the weather. “It will be over 23,000 square feet in size and all of it will be covered, meaning that we won’t be held to ransom by the weather, something that will definitely appeal to families trying to keep their kids entertained. “We are delighted to be able to take such positive steps after all of the devastation that the flooding caused. It’s going to be a real boost for the local economy and importantly, it will create seasonal and permanent employment opportunities.” Chris Webster, Chief Executive of Vision XS Ltd added, “The new attraction will be a phased development and will grow in line with visitor numbers. We envisage something significantly new for each season for the foreseeable future. As well as the latest in indoor play for tots to Grandparents there will also be the concept of ‘outdoors indoors’ – adventurous play normally associated with outdoor activity centres all under cover and all designed for children up to the age of 12 to share their experiences with accompanying adults.” “From drop slides to high ropes courses and from zip wires to water play, there will be plenty to keep people fully occupied and entertained for a good half day or longer.” Although the company has yet to announce a date, it is initially planned that the new attraction will be open in time for the school summer holidays. More information will be announced in the press during the coming weeks, including details of a promotion that will see hundreds of day tickets and annual passes handed out to families in Cornwall. To register an interest, families need to visit the site’s Facebook page (search for ‘Kidzworld Cornwall) or follow the link from the Kidzworld website: www.cornishworld.co.uk ENDS
