Fun-filled Bank Holiday Weekend at The National Brewery Centre

Burton upon Trent, Staffordshire, UK – This August Bank Holiday weekend, from the 27th of August, The National Brewery Centre will be playing host to a packed weekend of events, including farmyard animal visits, top-class comedy acts and vintage motor shows. Farmyard Friday will be the first of the events on offer, taking place from 10am on Friday, the 27th of August and is great for families during the school holidays. Children will get into the Centre for free when accompanied by a paying adult and will be able to meet a variety of farmyard animals such as pigs, hens, goats, ponies and, not forgetting the Centre’s two Shire horses, Major and Trooper. In addition to the animals, there will also be Dream Pony rides, face painting, a bouncy castle and a slide. Please note that activity charges may apply. Friday evening, on the 27th of August, The Brewery Tap, bar and restaurant in Burton, is playing host to its monthly ‘Firkin Comedy Club’, which has quickly established itself on the comedy circuit. The compere for the comedy evening will be Meryl O'Rourke, a South Londoner who has been storming the UK, Irish, New York and Barcelona comedy circuits for over 10 years, being described as “Fantastic” by Jonathan Ross. The hysterical opening act, Noel James, has been performing at all the major clubs and festivals around the UK for over 8 years. Middle acts include up and coming stars of comedy, Roanna Bond and Chris Norton-Walker. While the winner of the much-coveted City Life Comedian Of The Year award for 2006, Vince Atta is performing the closing act on the evening. Tickets for the event, which are purchased in advance, cost £10 and are available from the Brewery Tap bar and restaurant or the National Brewery Centre. With seating at tables in cabaret-style, the audience can enjoy the comedy and have the option of eating a meal during the performances. Doors open at 8pm and there’s plenty of free, onsite parking available. Doors close at 11pm. On Saturday 28th of August, the Vintage Motorcycle Club will be showing off their members’ motorcycles. The Club was formed in 1946 and now has over 16,000 members, who have an extensive collection of motorcycles and three-wheelers from all over the world. On Sunday 29th and Bank Holiday Monday, 30th of August, the Claymills Classic Car Club will be proudly displaying its members cars. The Club, based out of the popular Claymills Victorian Pumping Station, has a wide range of classic makes and models including Morris Minor, Triumph, Aston Martin, VW, Jaguar, Saab, Porsche, BMW, and even the odd Bugatti.
