Burton upon Trent, UK – People will have the opportunity to try a taste of game at The National Brewery Centre, Burton. The UK’s largest shooting organisation, the British Association for Shooting and Conservation (BASC), will host a Game and Ale tasting evening at the Centre on Saturday 6th November. The event - which will also offer guests the chance to try their hand at the sport, with a state-of-the-art shooting simulator - is being held as part of BASC’s National Taste of Game Fortnight, which will run from 6th to the 20th November 2010. National Taste of Game Fortnight is part of BASC’s ‘Game’s On’ initiative which highlights the benefits of game meat as a local, wild and nutritious food. The organisation has teamed up with chefs from the Centre's Brewery Tap bar and restaurant to celebrate the traditions of game cookery and real ale brewing. Steve Bloomfield, BASC’s Midlands regional director, said: “The evening will start with a guided tour of the Centre, during which, guests will be able to sample some of the ales produced in its famous micro-brewery. Following a tour and beer tasting, guests will be treated to a three-course game menu designed by the Brewery Tap’s Head Chef, using local seasonal game and produce.” Kim Clarke, general manager of the National Brewery Centre, added: ”Game and real ales are the perfect marriage and we are delighted to be able to work with BASC in helping introduce this fabulous combination to the wider-public.” “Dishes such as Seared wood pigeon and red onion tart accompanied by a pigeon jus and Venison and winter vegetable pie served with beef dripping chips and a tankard of real game gravy will be some of the many dishes to choose from on the night. Russell, our head chef has prepared a fabulous menu that I know our customers will love.” Tickets cost £30 per person and for further information and tickets contact BASC’s Midland regional centre on 01889 565 050.
