Burton upon Trent, Staffordshire, UK – 25th January 2010 – The National Brewery Centre, Burton upon Trent, is calling on local performers to contact them in its search to assemble the new team for the revitalised visitor centre and museum opening in April 2010. Lucky applicants will be invited to showcase their talents in a bid to win full-time work in what promises to be one of the UK’s top visitor attractions. Celebrating the UK’s brewing heritage and Burton’s massive contribution to the industry – both nationally and internationally, the new centre will be situated at the former Coors Visitor Centre (previously the Bass Museum) in Horninglow Street, which was closed in 2008. John Lowther, chief executive of Planning Solutions Ltd, the company responsible for the new centre, said: “We are in the process of overhauling the museum and visitor centre, bringing it right up-to-date and relevant for our customers.” “The expectations of today’s public are increasingly sophisticated and demanding so, to ensure the success of the centre, we are working hard to develop a world-class visitor experience that will appeal to all ages. “One exciting change will be the introduction of ‘live’ performers. Staying ‘in character’ and being appropriately dressed in relevant period costume, they will enact key roles, such as head brewer whilst interacting with visitors. Animating the exhibitions in this way, coupled with the latest audio-visual technology – such as holographics, will make sure the experience is hugely entertaining as well as informative. “In all, we will be looking to recruit a team of 5-6 people to work here full-time, supported by part-time staff and volunteers. “Interested applicants will need to have good people skills and some experience of performing in public, whether that be in amateur dramatics, at college or in a pub or club, for example. “In building a world-class attraction, our levels of service and customer satisfaction will be extremely high, so we need a team of people that will generate the energy and enthusiasm this requires. “Although the roles will involve working to a basic script, there will be room for a certain amount of improvisation. This will provide an element of flexibility to inject an air of spontaneity and freshness for performers and visitors alike. “Ultimately, the successful applicants will each ‘win’ a full-time job, doing what they love, in a fantastic environment – the bonus being that they will be paid for it!” The company is inviting anyone (aged 18 or over) who is interested to write in, explaining why they would be suited for a role at the new centre. Shortlisted applicants will be invited to come along to meet the team and demonstrate their talent. Applications can be sent for the attention of Dave Ismay at the National Brewery Centre, by email talent@nationalbrewerycentre.co.uk or by post to Horninglow Street, Burton-upon-Trent, DE14 1NG. The deadline for applications is the 7th February 2010 and the next stage of the selection will take place shortly afterwards.
