Spitalfields, London, UK – April 2011 – London’s Old Spitalfields Market has been chosen as one of the venues where the public can get to see the UEFA Champions League Trophy during its tour of the Capital. The tour celebrates the staging of the UEFA Champions League final at Wembley Stadium on Saturday 28 May and the trophy will be on display to members of the public at the historic indoor market, between the 28th and 30th April 2011. The European club game's most prestigious prize will also be joined on the tour by the UEFA Women's Champions League Trophy, which will be presented to the winner of that competition's final, being played at Craven Cottage in London on Thursday 26 May. A spokesperson for SML Marketing and Events, the appointed agency to manage the UEFA Champions league Trophy Tour, said: “We approached Old Spitalfields Market to be host of the tour as it is an iconic London destination. The market has a great selection of both Londoners and tourist visitors and its proximity to Liverpool Street and the local businesses meant we could reach out to a fantastic audience range, an integral element of the Trophy Tour activity.” Ellie Barnatt, events manager at Old Spitalfields Market, commented: “Our venue has a long and proud history in working with sports events and we are delighted to be working with SML Marketing and Events in hosting the trophies on behalf of the Football Association and UEFA.” Full details of the trophy tour are available on www.UEFA.com.
