Opportunity for Equestrian Businesses with New Smartphone App

Equestrian-based businesses in the Midlands region are being offered the chance to reach new customers for free with the launch of a brand new smartphone app that allows horse owners to view special deals and discounts in their immediate area.

The app, which is the brainchild of a new, Staffordshire-based equine claims management service called StableHands, is a free-to-use application and it enables its users to find out deals and discounts from their nearest suppliers for items such as clothes, equipment, feed, footwear, medicines and riding schools - using the advanced features of the smartphone technology.

Lucy Quy, one of the founding directors of StableHands, commented; “Having been in the equine business for the best part of 20 years, I understand just how the financial downturn has affected businesses in our sector. Having a system that helps them attract new customers is proving to be a great benefit to those dealers that have come on board already and we’re looking for additional businesses that want to grow their customer base.”

“There really is no catch, no commitment required and nothing to pay. We’ll simply help them set up their offers on our system and help promote the deals to our users.

“We have initially focussed our launch for the smartphone app in Staffordshire and a few neighbouring counties, namely Derbyshire, Leicestershire and Nottinghamshire. Once this area is fully operational and we have sufficient dealers and customers benefitting from the app, we’ll roll it out to additional counties with a view to reaching national coverage later this year.”

The free app, which is available for smartphones using either Android or Apple’s IOS operating systems, also has additional functionality that relates to another side of StableHand’s business – a fixed-fee equine claims management business that will be launched in the coming weeks.

One dealer, Draycott Tack and Feed has already enjoyed an increase in sales for their business. Located in Draycott, Derbyshire, they have embraced the smartphone technology and have had pleasing results. Joanne Smee, owner, explained: “When StableHands initially approached us, we were a little sceptical as I’ve always said that there’s no such thing as a free lunch, but they have been really helpful and since we uploaded our first special offers for our leather goods and rugs, we have increased our day-to-day sales.”

“It’s a no-brainer and I’d heartily recommend the services to other businesses wishing to improve their profitability during these tough economic times.”

The StableHands smartphone app can be downloaded free of charge from the company’s website www.stable-hands.co.uk or via the normal channels, including iTunes and Android app stores.
