Moira, nr.Swadlincote, South Derbyshire, UK – 28th April 2010 – As many schools will be closed on the 6th of May for polling during the election, the award-winning Conkers attraction in the heart of the National Forest is holding an election event for children. Underage voters will be given the chance to view and make judgement on three political ponies, casting their votes at the ballot box. The event gathers three pony candidates who will dress to impress in the colours of their respected parties in a bid to woo the young voters. The political candidates will consist of Mr. Pickle, Pork Pie and Megan, with a manifesto being provided on the day for each of the ponies. Steve Hamilton, of Conkers, said: ”We thought due to many schools being closed during election day, that we would provide an unusual and fun event for children to cast their votes on their favourite pony whilst enjoying a great day out at Conkers.” “Although there are no political messages during the event, it will give the children an insight into an election scenario and perhaps why their parents sometimes become agitated while watching political broadcasts!” For further information please visit www.visitconkers.com ENDS Notes for News Desk: Conkers Conkers is a £16m indoor and outdoor family attraction all about life in British woodland.
