Town’s Market is on the Lookout for Santa

Luton, Bedfordshire, UK – Luton’s indoor market is on the lookout for a very special person to take up the fully-paid, seasonal role of Santa Claus at the market throughout December to help raise money for local charities.

For the first time in the market’s history, it will be constructing a magical grotto where local children will be able to meet Santa and receive a gift.

Dave Gibbs, manager with Town and Country Markets Ltd, the company responsible for the day-to-day operation of the market said: “We ideally need someone that has the archetypal physique of Santa – the beard is of course optional! It’s the perfect job for someone that is looking to earn some money at what can be a very costly time of year and spread some of the season’s joy to the local children.”

“It’s a very important role and we’ll treat the successful candidate with the gravitas he or she deserves – we’ll even throw in a free lunch every day and the occasional mince pie to ensure that their belly stays up to the required dimensions.

“I’m pleased to confirm that all of the grotto’s profits will be equally shared between our local Keech Hospice and the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at Luton and Dunstable Hospital.

“We do realise that our Santa will be a stand-in, but I’m told that the real Santa is very much in support of our efforts as it’s raising money for such a good cause.”

Located within The Mall, the indoor market represents the town’s diverse and vibrant population – with stalls offering everything from food to fashion – including and creative selection of internationally-themed, freshly-cooked meals and specialist stalls – including one of the County’s leading fishmongers.

The market, which will celebrate its 40th anniversary next January, is open Monday to Saturday, all year round.

Anyone interesting in applying for the role, needs to contact Dave Gibbs by calling 01582 721 617 or emailing davegibbs@townandcountrymarkets.co.uk . Applicants should note that a CRB check will need to be carried out - at the market’s expense - before work can commence.
