Town’s Market Pays Shoppers Bills

Luton, Bedfordshire, UK – Luton’s popular indoor market has launched a novel promotion that involves the market’s manager randomly selecting shoppers and reimbursing them for their purchases.

Taking place from Monday to Thursday for the entire month of October, one shopper every day will be picked at random and paid back for the items that they have bought – a move that is expected cost the market thousands of pounds.

Dave Gibbs, manager with Town and Country Markets Ltd, the company responsible for the day-to-day operation of the market said: “This is a great job to have. I’ll wander around and pick out each day’s lucky winner. We did run this promotion around 5 years ago and one person had £170 given back to them after they purchased a ring from one of our jewellers, so we are very serious about handing out our money.”

“We are always hearing about the next big promotion from the supermarkets - so we thought we’d play them at their own game. So far it’s been really fun and we’ve managed to put a smile on quite a few shoppers’ faces!”

Located within The Mall, the indoor market represents the town’s diverse and vibrant population – with stalls offering everything from food to fashion – including and creative selection of internationally-themed, freshly-cooked meals and specialist stalls – including one of the County’s leading fishmongers.

The market, which will celebrate its 40th anniversary next January, is open Monday to Saturday, all year round.
