PartnerTech - secures collaboration agreements on a new high speed DNA analyse instrument PartnerTech has secured its first development and manufacture agreements with the AlphaHelix biotechnology company. The collaboration concerns a new instrument that reduplicates and analyses DNA in a way, which provides more reliable and faster test results. The agreements are expected to generate approximately SEK 23 million over two years. "The fact that AlphaHelix has chosen us as its partner in designing and manufacturing this highly specialized product is like a citation of excellence for our work within medical technology," says Mikael Jonson, CEO of PartnerTech. On the design side, the assignment represents a collaboration between PartnerTech and AlphaHelix. The daily work is led by consultants, Carmetec AB, whose specialieses in the design of specialist instruments for bio- and medical technology. "PartnerTech has documented expertise within medical technology that has both depth and breadth. This is of great importance in enabling us to get a new product into the market rapidly," explains Hanno Lindroth, President of Carmetec. "In PartnerTech, we have a supplier who can assume full responsibility for both design and production, and who can live up to the stringent quality requirements set both by ourselves and by the industry," says Peter Larsson, President of AlphaHelix. The manufacture of the first and second generation of instruments is planned to commence during the late autumn of 2001. AlphaHelix AB markets unique, simple and cost-efficient systems that significantly increase speed, reproducibility and reliability in various DNA amplification methods, primarily for diagnostic purposes. The company, which is based in Uppsala in Sweden, was founded in 1990 by the brothers, Stig and Mats Malmqvist.
