Thousands of requests concerning a prohibition of registration submitted to the Finnish Patent and Registration Office – the online form for registration prohibitions is still running slowly
Due to the data breach at Valio, over 10,000 requests concerning a registration prohibition were submitted to the Finnish Patent and Registration Office (PRH) last week and over the weekend, and the number is rising. The exceptionally high number of requests concerning a prohibition of registration is causing delays in accessing the online form, with waiting times of between 20 seconds and two minutes. Filling out the form is also slow.
The supplier of the form system has been working on the problem since last Thursday, but unfortunately, the issue has not yet been resolved.
Customers can also use the paper form in PDF format available on the prh.fi website.
The processing time for requests concerning a prohibition of registration submitted electronically and on paper is currently about three days. We have increased our capacity to process these requests.
We take the data breach and its potential consequences very seriously, and we are doing everything we can to ensure that the online form concerning a prohibition of registration functions as it should, so that the prohibitions can be filed with the PRS register promptly.
The requests have also overloaded our customer service, so we encourage our customers to check for themselves in the Suomi.fi service whether they are currently registered in the Finnish Trade Register as a person responsible for a company. Go to the Suomi.fi service.
The prohibition of registration does not affect previously made register entries.
Requests for a prohibition of registration submitted to the PRH apply only to the PRH's own registers
A prohibition of registration means that you cannot be registered as a person responsible for a company or an organisation at the Finnish Trade Register, the Finnish Register of Associations, or the Finnish Register of Foundations.
The PRH also offers other services to prevent from scams
In addition to a prohibition of registration, the PRH offers a range of other services to protect customers from scams.
In the Suomi.fi service, customers can check their current roles as a person responsible in the Finnish Trade Register. Log in to the service using your personal internet banking codes, a mobile ID, or a personal ID card with a chip.
You can receive information about changes in your company’s Trade Register information either by providing a functioning email address to the Finnish Trade Register or by subscribing notifications to your email.
Companies can also choose to submit notifications only electronically to the Finnish Trade Register and the Tax Administration through strong authentication. This ensures that only authorised persons submit applications.
