Season Opening 2026: Michelin Chefs, Ocean Art and Live Music at Pater Noster – Sweden’s Lighthouse Hotel
On April 10, the award-winning boutique hotel Pater Noster – A Home on the Horizon – opens for the 2026 season. This year’s program includes Michelin chef residencies, an intimate live concert with Swedish artist Lisa Miskovsky, and new outdoor art exhibitions exploring the future of our oceans.
Located on a historic lighthouse island off the coast of West Sweden, Pater Noster offers a rare combination of wild nature, cultural heritage and contemporary hospitality. With just nine individually designed rooms and the North Sea as its closest neighbor, the hotel is a small-scale destination where shifting light, dramatic weather and the rhythm of the seasons shape every visit.
The lighthouse, which has guided sailors since 1868, remains the island’s defining landmark — a symbol of both history and continuity. All this year’s events share a common thread: a celebration of the sea and the seasonal transformations that make each stay unique.
“Each season offers a new way to experience this place. By developing the island with care, we want to create experiences that honour both the sea and the cultural heritage of the island,” says Mirja Lilja Hagsjö, CEO of Pater Noster.
Spring Weekend at Pater Noster
From April 10 to June 5, guests can book the seasonal “Spring Weekend at Pater Noster” package. The experience includes full board, RIB boat transfer from Marstrand, guided island tours, sauna access and entry to the lighthouse — a complete stay where nature sets the pace.
On April 17–19, the kitchen will host Linnea Jarnrot, winner of Sweden’s MasterChef 2025. The weekend includes both a public daytime culinary event and exclusive dinners for hotel guests, where seasonal Nordic ingredients are interpreted against the dramatic coastal landscape of West Sweden.
Michelin Guest Chefs in July
On July 14, Michelin-starred chefs Diego Jacquet and Marcelo Di Giacomo will return to Pater Noster for an exclusive guest residency.
Diego Jacquet, known for his creative and contemporary approach to Latin American cuisine, has built an international career in leading fine-dining kitchens. Marcelo Di Giacomo brings decades of gastronomic experience, combining classical techniques with a modern sensibility.
At Pater Noster, their international expertise meets the raw ingredients of West Sweden’s coastline — seafood, seaweed and seasonal produce shaped by wind and saltwater. The result is a culinary experience defined by precision, craftsmanship and deep respect for nature.
Lisa Miskovsky Live at the Lighthouse
On July 28, acclaimed Swedish singer-songwriter Lisa Miskovsky will perform an intimate open-air concert in the Lighthouse Keeper’s courtyard.
Surrounded by sea cliffs and the iconic lighthouse tower, the setting creates a unique stage where music meets the horizon. Miskovsky, one of Sweden’s most established artists, is known for her powerful blend of pop and rock and her emotionally resonant songwriting. At Pater Noster, her music is experienced up close — a temporary stage at the very edge of Scandinavia.
Art Highlighting the Future of the OceansThe art exhibition Art & Science of Water is integrated into the island’s historic surroundings and, through the intersection of art and science, highlights the importance of the ocean — as a habitat, a resource and an ecosystem in transition. The project forms part of Pater Noster’s long-term commitment to protecting our oceans and is led by the Pater Noster Art & Culture Association.
New to this year’s exhibition are works from The Day I Met Sweet Girl, a photographic narrative of a life-changing encounter between a human and a young humpback whale in French Polynesia. The exhibition reminds us that the ocean is a living, autonomous world — and raises the question of what it truly means to both love and take responsibility for the future of our seas.
“The ocean is the very foundation of life here. Through art, we want to highlight its beauty, but also its vulnerability,” says Mirja Lilja Hagsjö.
The Lighthouse Gardens
The restoration of the lighthouse keeper’s historic gardens continues this spring. Once essential for the self-sufficiency of lighthouse families, the gardens now produce herbs, vegetables and edible flowers used in the hotel’s seasonal cuisine. Guests can explore the gardens, learn about the island’s self-sustaining past and see how ingredients harvested from the soil are prepared in the kitchen the same day — connecting heritage, gastronomy and sustainability.
Autumn Lobster Experience
From September 21 to October 31, guests can join the “Lobster Package – The Hunt for the Black Gold.” The experience includes lobster fishing with a local professional fisherman, combining tradition, gastronomy and knowledge of the sea’s resources during West Sweden’s most iconic seafood season.
