Patria and Etteplan deepen partnership with a competence centre for vehicle engineering
The long-standing engineering collaboration between Patria and Etteplan is deepening significantly. Etteplan is establishing a new competence centre focused on the defence industry (Defence Competence Centre), where vehicle and variant engineering as well as documentation will be carried out for Patria’s Protected Mobility business area. The competence centre brings together and grows Etteplan's specialist expertise in vehicle engineering and provides Patria with an engineering partner able to meet growing demand quickly and reliably. Etteplan’s AI solutions are used in the engineering and documentation of the vehicles.
Patria and Etteplan have worked together in engineering for decades. The two companies have now signed a Letter of Intent through which the partnership will be deepened and expanded further. Etteplan is establishing a new competence centre focused on the defence industry, led from Finland. The competence centre supports the engineering of Patria’s vehicles and the development of their variants, as well as documentation, strengthening Patria’s delivery capability. Demand for Patria’s armoured vehicles has grown significantly and is expected to continue growing, and the collaboration with Etteplan strengthens Patria’s ability to meet that demand.
Etteplan brings strong and in-depth expertise in vehicle and special vehicle engineering to the collaboration, along with scalability. AI-based productised service solutions from Etteplan are used in the engineering and documentation of the vehicles, helping to manage and streamline both engineering and documentation.
“Patria has invested in growing its own production and has developed its operating model based on technology transfer. We have also recruited a great number of in-house engineering expertise for vehicle production. We need a reliable, international engineering partner that can scale its expertise quickly in line with growing demand. Etteplan understands the requirements of armoured vehicle engineering, and deepening the collaboration strengthens our ability to respond to our customers' needs,” says Jussi Järvinen, Executive Vice President of Patria’s Protected Mobility business area.
“Etteplan has strong expertise in vehicle engineering, which allows us to support Patria precisely where help is now needed. We have worked with Patria for a long time, and it is great to deepen this partnership and bring additional engineering capacity and expertise to them through our new competence centre. In the collaboration we use our AI-based Etteplan LEAN and Etteplan INFO service solutions, which are an excellent fit for Patria's growing needs,” says Juha Näkki, CEO of Etteplan.
